SCUP at GENCON!
over 5 years ago – Thu, Jul 26, 2018 at 07:33:36 PM

GREETINGS, FRIENDS!

I hope everyone is enjoying their copies of SCUP. I just wanted to drop you all a quick line to say that my partner-in-crime Megan and myself will be repping Wheel Tree Press at Gencon!

I will be running games in the GAMES ON DEMAND section of the con on Friday and Saturday. This includes potentially running SCUP as well as running Megan and my game Time Cellist. I will also be playtesting some games I've written including a game called Under the Glare of a Vengeful Sun, which is a post-apocalyptic journey game about people trying to survive a trek through a future ravaged by climate change, as well as a LARP called Gone, about a person cleaning out all the stuff that was left behind by someone who has moved on.

Also, Megan will be producing the annual GLITTER GUILD burlesque show! If you are 18+ and want to see the show, it's at 10 pm on Thursday night. The catalogue ID for it is ENT 18126396, so if you're going to be there and are interested, look it up.

Finally we'll have copies of SCUP for sale at the IGDN booth (booth #2545) in the dealer hall. If you have a friend who wants a copy, tell them to come by.

I'll be hanging at the Glitter Guild show, Games on Demand, or the IGDN booth most of the weekend, so feel free to come and say "hi" and introduce yourself. I'd love to meet any backers for the project.

Printing Update and Updated PDF
about 6 years ago – Tue, Apr 03, 2018 at 12:13:32 AM

Hi there, friends! We have a few SCUPdates for you.

First and foremost...

PRINTING UPDATE

SCUP IS AT THE PRINTERS! I have approved the page proofs (see the nice little picture below) and the books are going into production. We're super excited to get the books out to you, so we'll keep you posted about how the printing process is going.

Speaking of, since we shared the PDF with you, we've made a few minor changes to the book before sending it to the printer. Namely, we clarified the text of a few moves based on some questions people had and fixed a few typos. We are going to give you the updated PDF that reflects the printed version with the changes.

You should receive an email telling you how to get it. It's the same way you got the earlier PDF. Some of you had trouble getting the original PDFs. If you don't get an email with a link to the new PDF, you should-

1) Log into your Backerkit account to try to get it there,

2) email [email protected] if you can't see it, or

3) email us directly at [email protected] or [email protected].

And, of course, if you don't care about a few typos and some slightly less clear language, then feel free to just keep your original PDF. It's 99.9% the same.

Also, those of you who ordered Time Cellist from up should have received an email making it available to you. If you haven't, follow the same steps as above!

Finally, updated play resource PDFs are available here. That's the Wheel Tree Press webpage and that document will just live there for the time being, so feel free to pass those play resources around.

IMP OF THE PERVERSE!

If you haven't yet checked out Nathan Paoletta's Kickstarter for Imp of the Perverse, please do! Nathan did the layout for SCUP and, as I'm sure you're aware, is an amazing game designer. What's more, Marnie Galloway, our SCUP artist, is doing the art for Imp of the Perverse. If you're interested in supporting some more of our SCUP family and want to back a cool game, go check it out!

Finally, in an effort to keep bringing everyone SCUP appropriate power metal, I present to you new Italian band Frozen Crown:

THEY HAVE CROWN IN THEIR NAME. Listen and hopefully be inspired.

Have a good day, all.

SCUP: The PDF, Coming to an Inbox Near You
about 6 years ago – Fri, Feb 23, 2018 at 09:50:06 PM

Good day, SCUP backers,

I've gone ahead and clicked the button to distribute the SCUP PDF to backers who are all paid up. Check to make sure you have received it. You should have been notified, hopefully, if there was a problem with your card that prevented delivery.

Now that you've got a digital copy of SCUP in your digital hands, it's probably a good time to take a minute to talk up our amazing team who helped get this game out to you.

Jenn Martin has been the biggest supporter of this game since its inception, and her input into it has been invaluable. She worked on the Kickstarter and did some amazing editing and writing for the final product. She is also, of course, a brilliant game designer and you should keep an eye out for her upcoming games, including Autumn of the Ancients which she's playtesting right now at Dreamation.

Nathan Paoletta did the layout for the book and supplemental materials, and truly made it look slick. I was blown away at how he was able to squeeze so much information onto the supplemental sheets and still have them look nice and clean. You can find more about his amazing design work here

Marnie Galloway drew all the pretty pictures you see sprinkled throughout the book. We love her art and we wanted her to run wild with some ideas, and she really delivered. I'm partial to several of the pics, but my personal favorite is the one for the Introductory chapter, which I miiiiiiiiiiight be getting tattooed on me in the near future.

Our essay contributors, Willow Palecek, Tasha Robinson, James Mendez Hodes, and Eric Simon, all went above and beyond in contributing essays to help you think about your SCUP game. The book tells you a bit more about the work each of them do, and we encourage you to check them out. They are all brilliant and getting them all together in the book is a dream come true for us.

Finally, Megan Pedersen and Scott Underwood, two of my fellow Squirrels at the Wheel Tree, have been instrumental in getting SCUP into your inbox. They are the most delightful partners in crime we could ask for.

The next step? We're getting SCUP off to the printer, so for those of you who have physical books coming your way, be on the lookout for updates on that.

Also, a small handful of you did an add-on for the Time Cellist PDF. We will get that out to you shortly, but we have to double check on a few things before we do. Don't worry, we'll get you your game as soon as we can!

With cold hearts full of treachery and malice,

Todd and the Squirrels at the Wheel Tree
